Less Noise

Less Noise

April 25, 2024

My favorite books are the ones that contain the fewest amount of pages with the deepest knowledge and insight.

My favorite conversations are the ones that contain the least amount of words with the most alignment and learning.

My favorite moments are the ones that require the lowest amount of explanation with the greatest amount of energy and life.

The common thread with my favorite things is less noise.

Some amount of noise is essential. We need words, speech and stories in our lives. They help us learn and grow. They help us communicate and feel connected. They’re a part of our social fabric.

However, too much noise can quickly dilute the human experience.

Sadly, we live in a world that keeps us hyperconnected and exposed to continuous noise. We need the phone close by, the iPad in our hands, the music in our ears… anything to create more noise. The devices and marketing have conditioned us to expect it.

We’re so impacted by noise that we rarely have space to be with ourselves. Space to embrace the silence and all of its wisdom. Space to think, hear and feel our truth.

Instead, we just react and adapt to all the noise created by others.

We walk the path that everyone else walks, instead of exploring our own way. We do the work that everyone else asks, instead of following our own curiosity. We want the things that everyone else has, instead of examining our own needs and desires.

We unconsciously live the life that everyone else is living, instead of consciously choosing to live our truth.

Too much noise distracts us from our truth.

In that light, I will not add any more noise to this musing!  Instead, I’ll leave you with a question –

How can you create less noise in your life?
